You would think that a new blog would have updates every day rather than every 10 days. Well, think again. It is not for a lack of topics, I've got a folder full of those. I think I need to just make time once or twice a week to sit down and write. Also, I would encourage all of you to go back to my very first posting about 5 things you would like to improve in Park Hill. Please post your list. Once we get a good group of responses, we can go back and revisit them.
I had intended on writing a very non-controversial entry today about having a 4th of July parade in Park Hill and that someday it might be possible to partner with Mayfair and Stapleton to fund our own fireworks display. However, an article in today's Denver Post has changed my tune. The article is about the lack of a grocery store in Park Hill. Click here to go to the article.
I am not surprised that Sunflower Market is looking for a location other than the one promoted by GPHC at 35th and Colorado. GPHC has been working to bring a grocery store to North and Northeast Park Hill for quite some time. Their goal has long been to provide residents of these neighborhoods access to affordable fresh fruits, vegetables and other food items.

Fairfax Liquors - An Impedance to Progress
After wrapping up my first ever post, I received an email from Dave Coldiron regarding Fairfax Liquors, specifically, what can be done to revoke their liquor license. For those of you who are not familiar with Fairfax Liquors, well you should just stop by there sometime and see for yourself (28th and Fairfax). I would not suggest going at night. This place is a hole and is the leading impediment to any meaningful redevelopment of the Fairfax commercial street (My words, not Dave's). I believe it's an embarrassment to our neighborhood. There, I said it.
Below are the contents of Dave's email - now put down that doughnut and write a letter!

What are your top 5 South Park Hill improvements/changes?
Thanks for checking in. Although I am not entirely sure what kind of content you can expect to see here, I thought this would be a good opportunity to explain why I chose to start this blog.
My family and I moved to South Park Hill (SPH) close to two years ago. We choose SPH for a number of reasons: trees, decent sized yards, older two story brick homes and local shops (coffee & food) within walking distance. We have been fortunate enough to have some great neighbors and this has made all the difference in the world.
Like you, I receive the Greater Park Hill Community, Inc. (GPHC) newspaper each month. It only took me a few issues to realize that GPHC has its hands in a lot of issues within the entire Park Hill area. Each day I drive from 19th to 39th Ave., traversing all three of Park Hill's distinct districts (South, North and Northeast). Each of these individual neighborhoods is very different - different issues, different needs, different wants, etc.
